Last night, I learned that the Taco Bell in Rosslyn has shuttered its doors for good. This comes as quite a shock to me and my family, considering I believe it was the best Taco Bell in area. As a long-time Taco Bell consumer, I don’t take these things lightly. A few years ago, I boycotted the New York Avenue Taco Bell because of abominable service and they went out of business. The Rosslyn closing is also surprising because it was considered the classy establishment on the block, sitting next to the scary Wendy’s.
I feel blind-sided. We drove across the river last night, expecting a quiet, inexpensive, and delicious meal only to find the store completely dark with a 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of paper taped to the window declaring the bad news.
Now, it looks like the best option is King Street. But they are going to have to step up their game. I was less than impressed yesterday with their lack of mild sauce, lack of Mountain Dew, and overall poor soda mix (due in part to a lack of ice in the machine). If you like Taco Bell, but don’t need your food anytime soon and don’t mind living a little dangerously, then the newly-opened location on New York Avenue might be for you.
You might be asking yourself what this has to do with small groups and discipleship. Well, Taco Bell is an excellent place to meet with friends, group members, co-leaders, team leaders, and even zone leaders when you don’t have a ton of money. You can eat for just a few bucks and put the money you saved toward greater kingdom purposes.
That Wendy’s is so scary indeed.
My condolences for your loss.
The location at New York Avenue and Bladensburg is nice. At least you can get a KFC biscuit with your Chalupa.

I enjoyed your attempt to tie this post to small groups in the last two sentences. Nicely done.

As Nathan’s mother, I can vouch for his life-long commitment to Taco Bell. It probably would not come as a surprise to know that when I was pregnant with Nathan, I craved Burrito Surpremes from Taco Bell.

There is a taco bell on Lee Hwy about a mile away- much closer than Kings Hwy. You might as well go ahead and move to Virginia now.

Yes - I was going to recommend the Lee Hwy taco bell too…very close to the intersection of Lee hwy/Glebe Road. Let me know when you, Heather and Baby Gonzales are heading out and I’ll join you :)!
