Here are the 7 points I mentioned in the sermon today:
- Choose an appropriate translation
- Read critically (ask questions to determine the meaning of the text- what is the style of writing? who wrote it? why? to whom were they writing? what is the overarching message?
- Read devotionally. Begin and end with prayer
- Write down your observations. Look for a SPECK of truth (Sin to confess, Promise to claim, Example to follow, Command to Obey, Knowledge to believe)
- Read in community with others
- Make a plan
- Apply it to your life
