Happy Monday friends. I just wanted to share quickly about a great initiative that a few NCCers were involved in this weekend. On Saturday, a team of five NCCers donated 15 hours of their time to volunteer at the Awakening Music Festival in Centreville, VA. There was an expected crowd of up to 10,000 to see acts such as NeedToBreathe, DecembeRadio, Barlow Girl, and Toby Mac.

We volunteered to help with an organization called Children’s Hopechest. We worked a tent and table, as well as the crowds to promote their 5 for 50 Campaign. Children’s Hopechest advocates on behalf of the great number of orphans in our world, and specifically works in Swaziland, South Africa, and Russia. The president of this organization, Tom Davis, was the main speaker at the festival and recently wrote a book called Red Letters. The book focuses on the church, the current HIV/AIDS pandemic, and the rising number of ophans left in the trail of this disease.

Above is a picture of our team. We all labored very hard and I believe represented our NCC community very well. This is what the church is supposed to be about- this is what NCC is all about. I encourage each of you to step out and see how you can serve as individuals and groups.

Also, please check out the 5 for 50 Campaign. There are 50 million orphans in the world, and there are 5 simple things that you can do to make a huge difference!! If any small groups want to get more involved in this initiative, please let me know.

peace
