We have a slightly different Weekend Summary today since Heather and I played hooky from NCC for stop two on our Magical Summer of Weddings. This time it was Jackson, Mississippi for Rick and Stephanie’s nuptials.
Here is a summary of where we ate (thanks to Heather Z. for some suggestions):
- Corky’s Ribs & BBQ
- Sonic
- The Jiggett’s House (reception)
- McDonalds (at DFW airport)
Some other random sites, sounds, and thoughts:
- Stay away from the Best Western in Canton. (We’re still not sure why there was a square of toilet paper stuck to the wall in the stairwell.)
- Deuce McCallister Imports (He’s the Saints running back who has a fancy car dealership off the freeway in Jackson.)
- We’re still looking for an explanation as to why there was a large replica of the Washington Monument in the middle of Mississippi.
- We saw the Madison County Courthouse, backdrop for some famous movies.
Parting Thoughts
Our recent trips to Idaho and Mississippi made us a appreciate our friends in Washington, D.C. more than ever before. Just seeing so many friends make the trek to far away places to take part in the weddings was awesome.
I always try to remember that God has placed us all together in Washington, D.C. for such a time as this. We all won’t be here forever, but we can make the most of it right now and make an eternal impact for God.
You brought back cherry limeades from Sonic for HZ and me, right?
