Looking for something to do this weekend? Go see Amazing Grace.
Why? First, its a good movie. It’s produced by Walden media (who also made The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) and it’s not cheesy. Part of me was expecting something with Kirk Cameron and bad acting, but this movie is the real deal. Heather and I had the opportunity to see a screening last year and I came away impressed and challenged.
Second, you need to go to send a message to the movie industry. I would encourage you to read a great column that Ryan wrote explaining this a little more. But the short of it is that you need to go see the movie this weekend- and even Friday or Saturday to make your “vote” count.
So, grab some friends and head to the theater. You can go to the Amazing Grace website, type your zip code into the box on the right-hand side, and the closest theaters near you will pop up.
It’s playing at Georgetown, Ballston, E-Street, Avalon, Shirlington, Hoffman, Bethesda, Wheaton, Kingstowne, and Silver Spring.
I wanted to 2nd Nathan’s endorsement and add that there are curriculum/discussion guides available on the AmazingGraceMovie.com website if you want to build it into your group next week. Wilberforce relied so much on his community to persevere– it is a perfect CG outing!
