Borjas.JPGDairo Borja is one of my favorite people to be around. He is always laughing, joking, and making people feel comfortable. In the middle of going to school, serving coffee at Ebenezers, playing on the worship team, and being a great husband, Dairo is also giving leadership and vision to the launch of a new Spanish service at our Ballston location. They already have over 30 people on their core team.

Speaking of 30, he’s turning that this Thursday, so wish him a happy birthday!

Today, we shine the spotlight on Dairo and talk to him about life, ministry, and swing dancing.

How long have you attended NCC? What brought you to NCC?
It is going to be 5 years in January. My wife Christina is really good friends with Nina Schmidgall, who was already involved with NCC and that was our main connection.

Tell us a little about the small groups and/or ministries that you lead and how that experience has impacted you.
I just stared my group this semester and I really was impressed with how people want to help with this vision of having a service in Spanish at NCC. Our group is meeting every other Sunday during this fall semester to pray and prepare for launching a Spanish service early next year

Where can you be found on Sunday mornings?
At Ballston Common Mall

When did you start following Christ and what have been some of the spiritual turning points in your life?
When I was 16 I received Christ. When I moved to Ecuador (where I eventually meet my wife) I had a really rough time, but God put me in the perfect place and at the perfect time.

Tell us a little about your background.

I am from Bogota Colombia. I am actually in school now majoring in music. I have one brother and one sister. My parents got divorced when I was 12 years old, and both my parents and siblings live in Colombia. Christina and I have been married almost 5 years and we don’t have kids yet.

What is your favorite Scripture passage?
1 Corinthians 13:13

What are your favorite books?
The Alchemist, Left Behind and a book in Spanish called La Fuerza del Shecid

What are your favorite movies?
Matrix, Life is Beautiful, Beautiful Mind, Spiderman I, II

What is your favorite fast food?
Taco Bell

What is something that most people at NCC would not know about you?
My first job in the United States was swing dancing for a promotion company.

Tell us a little about your day job. What is your dream job?
I work at Ebenezers Coffeehouse, cool huh? I usually work in the mornings and it is pretty busy, which means we have to work fast! My dream job is playing in a worship band that travels around the world, leading people to worship God with all they have.

Who is your hero? (besides Jesus or any other member of the Trinity)
David; he figured out how to worship God in spirit and in truth.

What do you do in your free time?
Study music, watch TV, play volleyball

In NCC:THE MOVIE who would play you? Who would play Pastor Mark?

Will Smith because I like how he dances; Laurence Fishburne because he’s best known for playing Morpheus, who reminds me of Pastor Mark because he taught the truth

What is your favorite Pastor Markism?

Mas o menos
