I know its only mid-October, but its never too early to start thinking about Christmas!
This semester, as we focus on Service in all of our small groups, we wanted to introduce an excellent opportunity through the Angel Tree Project. This is the second year we will be participating as a church and ALL GROUPS are once again encouraged to participate.
The Angel Tree Project serves children whose parents are in prison. Each participating group will purchase and deliver Christmas gifts, along with a message of hope to these children. Each group could adopt 1 child for about $60. That’s only about $6-10 per person. You will also receive a Wish List and sizes for the child to make things even easier.
As a church, we blessed 17 kids last year! And John Purcell is back as our fearless Angel Tree coordinator this year to help us top that number easily. I don’t see any reason why we can’t double or triple the number from last year!
We want to encourage every small group to adopt a child. Believe me, its a lot of fun. It’s not just about collecting money, it’s about an excuse to go toy shopping!
So, even though its October, please start discussing this service opportunity with your group and email John as soon as possible so we know if we need to request more kids. The deadline to sign up with John is November 15. Believe me, you’ll be hearing more about this in the coming weeks!
Feliz Navidad!

Each Christmas, they deliver shoeboxes full of Christmas presents to children around the world. This would be a great service project for your small group. I would encourage each small group to participate in Angel Tree to bless the neighborhoods and participate in Operation Christmas Child to bless the nations. [...]
