Welcome to Fall Semester 2006! Our small groups are growing, our leadership base is expanding, and we need to buckle down for a wild Holy Spirit ride this semester.

Since we are reorganizing our leadership structure, we thought we would take a step back today on Thursday Leadership Lesson and let you know who’s who. We’ve got zone leaders. And our zone leaders are reorganizing their zones into teams under team leaders. So let’s “zoom out” so you will have a better idea of who your leaders are.

Leslie Adams- Leslie was one of our original Zone Leaders. She primarily oversees Ballston-related groups, but she has picked up a few Union groups this semester. She also recently added the NCC arts groups to her zone mix.

Kacey McGowan- Kacey is a new Team Leader in Leslie Adams’ zone. Kacey has led both community-based groups and the new Stage Left Group. She will be leading the Arts groups team.

Nathan and Heather Gonzales- Nathan was also an original member of the Zone Leader team. He and his wife Heather lead a number of our young adult Bible studies and small groups. They have a wealth of leadership wisdom and experience.

Aaron Mercer- Aaron was promoted to Team Leader in the Summer Semester. Aaron has led small groups at NCC for several years, and he now oversees a number of our young professional groups, including Capitol Hill Community Group and District Happy Hour.

Brian and Kim Hill- Brian and Kim round out the original Zone Leader team. They have influenced dozens and dozens of young NCCers. Their current focus is married couple groups.

Dan and Tiffani Hampton- Dan and Tiffani wear a number of hats around NCC. From production to kids ministry to small group leadership. This semester, they are assuming the roles of Team Leaders within the Hill zone, giving support and leadership to some of our married couple groups. (Look out for a Tuesday Spotlight on them soon!)

Juliet Main- Juliet is our Buzz Coordinator by day and Alpha Zone Leader by night. She served as the Alpha Administrator for 2 semesters and then we created a spot on the Zone Leader Team for Alpha last spring. Juliet supports and gives leadership to our Alpha team and to small groups that have emerged from Alpha, like Dance Party.

Hyla Helsel- Hyla has faithfully participated in and served on the Alpha team for a few semesters. In Spring 2006, she coordinated the important Alpha Day Away Retreat. This semester, she has assumed the role of Alpha Administrator (Team Leader in NCC nomenclature) where she casts vision for and supports a large group of Alpha volunteers.

Sarah Owen- Sarah Owen has led Bible studies at NCC for many years. She has led women’s groups and inductive Bible study groups. Sarah’s zone, known affectionately as the “O-Zone” or “OZ,” includes a number of Bible studies, Crown Financial, and women’s groups.

Lisa Suwandi and Lanre Williams- Lisa and Lanre lead an amazing women’s small groups. They even made their own t-shirts! This semester, we have promoted them to Team Leaders within Sarah Owen’s Zone where they will give support to several groups.

Katlyn Cho- Katlyn is a ministry machine at NCC! She has faithfully served for several years as the Crown Coordinator at NCC, and we are validating that this semester by officially promoting her to Team Leader over the Crown Financial small groups.

Dave Clark- Pastor Dave will be assuming a new role in our discipleship community this semester as Men’s Ministry Coordinator. While not a zone leader or team leader per se, Dave will serve as a connection point for our men leaders and men’s small groups.

Ryan and Heather Zempel- And finally, on the bottom rung of the ladder, there’s Ryan and me. We are pinch-hitting for John Hasler, who was serving as Team Leader for our social justice and outreach groups. And every now and then we hang out with these zone leaders, team leaders, and other small group leaders.
