A great leader is constantly learning. And that means a great leader is constantly reading. If you would like to explore the topic of communication in greater depth, I would recommend the following books:
The 360-Degree Leader by John Maxwell– Communicating up, across, and down
The Revolutionary Communicator by Jedd Medefind and Erik Lokkesmoe– Jesus’ communication style
Everybody’s Normal Till You Get to Know Them by John Ortberg– understanding relational dynamics and communicating in difficult circumstances.
How to Lead a Great Cell Group Meeting (So People Want to Come Back) by Joel Comiskey– very practical advice on facilitating discussion within a small group environment.
Communicating For a Change by Andy Stanley– teaching less for more.
Although I have not read all of Andy’s book yet, I feel confident in highly recommending it. Andy Stanley is one of the best communicators I have ever heard, and his principles apply to all forms and environments of communication. Whether you are leading a small group, briefing your boss, making a press announcement, or preaching, his teaching and communication principles can help you be a better leader.
