I love it when our groups are out changing communities. Yesterday, Nathan posted about the great work our Fantasy Baseball groups are doing as the Grounds Crew at the local Little League fields.
But I can’t let all the props go to Nathan’s zone.
Today, I want to give a shout out to one of the leaders in my zone– Joseph Llobrera. His group did a clean-up project on the Anacostia River. How much fun is this? You get to ride in a canoe!!
Here’s Adam Rocap, armed with paddle and ready to clean up the river.
David Revere runs the river looking for trash.

And look at that trash they pulled out! Joseph said that 95% of their trash haul consisted of styrofoam cups and plastic bottles. They also harvested a tent, a fire extinguisher, a basketball and mouthguard combo, a headless teddy bear, and a road safety hazard cone! Adam Rocap, Kristi Jones, and Kristen Roney show some of the loot they collected.
As Christians, we have a responsibility to our communities. Let us know what your groups are doing to share the love of Christ in practical ways.

Wow. What amazing stewards of the treasure we have been given. How blessed I am to see this service to DC and in honor of what God has provided in the way of this beautiful place we get to live. Yeah team!

[...] Llobrera, a leader in our social justice ministries,  is in the center of the spotlight today.  Joseph has been a great addition to our leadership team, and he really puts feet to his faith.  His group, Living Out Social Justice, is always out changing the community by painting schools, cleaning rivers, and being the hands and feet of Jesus to the people around them.
