Most of us will be glued to football for the next couple of days. For those of you who have no clue what is going on with Nathan’s posts these days, I thought I would post a weekend movie idea.
In every culture, there are tales of journey. Through excitement, adventure, peril, u-turns, and detours, our heroes search. It doesn’t really matter what they are searching for. It is the journey itself that is the focal point of the story. It could be hidden treasure, a long lost relative, an ark hidden for centuries, or a big fiery pit to drop a dangerous ring. In many cases, the journey leads them back home. Or to the place that truly becomes their home.
That’s what the Bible is all about. A passionate God leading Ahis kids on a wild adventure home.
Our upcoming leadership retreat is Journey: Expect the Unexpected. In anticipation of that, I would like to offer one of my favorite journey movies of all time. The Princess Bride. Giants, swordfighting, ROUSes, men with six fingers, true love. What more could you want?
