There are so many different versions of this wonderful story, and I really don’t know which is my favorite. The George C. Scott version just happens to be the one I watched last night. But there is also the old black and white version with Alastair Sim and the newer one with Patrick Stewart.
The musical version, Scrooge, is also worth a watch. This one stars Albert Finney (Daddy Warbucks) as the old humbug.
And of course, we cannot leave out the Mickey version and the Muppet version.
Which is your favorite?

I had fun watching this with you last night, Heather! It is probably my favorite “adult” version of the story. But I have to say, the “Muppets Christmas Carol” sticks with me. Must be those catchy tunes, singing mice, and the smart-alecky comments of Rizzo the Rat!

Yeah, and I was always scared of those two hecklers in the box seats. I knew there was something sketchy about them. Turns out they are the Marley Brothers.
While on the subject of the Muppets, Muppets Take Manhattan is one of my favorites!

Mickey’s Christmas Carol is my favorite!! Do they ever show it and Small One any more on the Disney Channel?

I love “Muppets Take Manhattan,” too — I think it is the whole “producing a Broadway musical” theme. And Kermit with amnesia…priceless.

We no longer subscribe to the Disney channel, but I would venture a guess that they don’t show Small One anymore. I do check the TV Guide occasionally to see what they are playing, and I don’t think they show anything of a religious nature. Their programming has gotten too secular and too politically correct. That’s a shame. I don’t believe Walt Disney would approve of the direction his company has taken.

Heather, do you recall the first time you saw this movie? Was it in my 7th. grade English class. I remember that it was (and still is) in the 7th. grade A-Beka literature book. It has gotten to be a tradition for my 7th. graders to read the story and watch the movie (the George C. Scott version).

Mom- it probably was your class. The movie came out in 1984, and I had your class in 1986-87. Good times.
