Since Christmas is a big movie viewing time for my family, I am going to post several Holiday Movie Ideas. The first one is a new classic: Jean Shepherd’s A Christmas Story.

Triple dog dares, Scut Farcus with his yellow eyes, tongues frozen to light poles, leg lamps, and the coveted Red Ryder BB Gun with a compass in the stock and a thing that tells time.

“You’ll shoot your eye out, kid!”

What’s your favorite line?

  1. Choosing one favorite line from this film is impossible! Here are a couple of my favorites:

“I can’t put my arms down!”
“He looks like a deranged Easter Bunny”
“The line waiting to see Santa Claus stretched all the way back to Terre Haute. And I was at the end of it.” (OK — this line is funny to me because for those of us from the northern part of the great state of Indiana, Terre Haute is very far away!)
    “It…it twas…soap poisoning!”

  2. “Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian.”

Whenever I get a package marked with this, I have to resist the urge to quote this. I usually fail.

If you find that you don’t have time to watch the whole thing, here it is in 30 seconds. Re-enacted by bunnies.
